Fes guided visit
Our Fes guided visit starts after breakfast. We will meet our Fes guide and go on a walking guided visit with him to discover the cultural city of Fes within a day tour.
Overview of Fes:
Fez or Fes is a city in northern inland Morocco and the 2nd largest city in Morocco. Fes is located in the northwest of the Atlas Mountains. It is surrounded by hills and the old city is centered around the Fez River “Oued Fes” flowing from west to east.
Fez was founded in 789 as Fas on the southeast bank of the Jaohar River “now known as the Fez River” by Idriss I, founder of the Idrisid dynasty.
During our Fes visit:
discover the old Medina of Fes:
Our journey will start with a walk in the old Medina of Fes which is also known as Fez El Bali. Here we will discover its narrow alleys.
Visit the Al Attarine Madersa:
The Al-Attarine Madrasa referred to as the “school of the perfumers” is a Madrasa in Fez located near the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque. It was built by Sultan Uthman II Abu Said. The school takes this name from the market of Al-Attarine, the spice and perfume market.
Visit The Madrasa Bou Inania:
The Madrasa Bou Inania is a madrasa in Fez, built between 1350 and 1355 by Abu Inan Faris. This Madrasa is the only in Morocco which also functioned as a congregational mosque. It is acknowledged as a high point of Marinid architecture and of historic Moroccan architecture generally.
Visit The Nejjarine Fountain:
The Nejjarine fountain is a Museum of Wooden Arts and Crafts which was not a museum as today. It was built in 1711 as a fondouk “Hotel”, a lodging house for travelers that included a courtyard where merchants stored and sold their wares. It was named Fondak En Nejjarin which means “The hotel of Nejjarin” or Caravanserai of the Guild of Carpenters. It’s located near the carpenter’s market.

it’s the first time I visit Morocco with my wife and thought to have this trip from Fes and visit the desert dunes. We booked the trip with Day Desert Tours and we were lucky to travel with them, especially with our driver Hamid who picked us up at our riad in the time. It was a nice experience to visit the desert and go on a camel ride for the first time.
Thank you dear Mario for your amazing feedback, we are very glad you enjoyed your trip with us and hopefully to see you again in Morocco.
